622 Years of Marriage and Counting at the Couples’ Luncheon

United Methodist Communities at The Shores’ annual Couples’ Luncheon held on Valentine’s Day, brought 28 men and women an exquisite experience. Attention to even the slightest detail produced a perfect event. Town Hall became magically transformed into a fine restaurant with romantic ambiance. Tables boasted candles (battery operated, of course), white roses in heart shaped red bud vases for the ladies, and for the men, heart-shaped chocolates. Soft music playing in the background enhanced the dining experience.

The meal prepared by Chef Rob and the Dining team, began with a salad of baby field greens with dried apricots and almonds topped with a chocolate vinaigrette dressing. The entre, sole stuffed with scallops and crab, purple Peruvian potatoes, asparagus spires and vegetables Julian, lead to a sweet dessert ending – crème Brule cheesecake with strawberries.

Collectively, the 10 married couples represented 622 years of marriage; the longest married duo most recently celebrated their 71st anniversary. Four of the couples met at The Shores.
